I’m an avid listener of NPR when I’m in the car, and for the past three months, one story has dominated the station – the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. We’ve heard about all of the terrible consequences that are going to come out of this, both long-term and short-term, and everyone has the same question. What can we do to prevent this from happening again?

Enter the clean energy companies. President Obama is proposing energy reform, but I don’t think that a lot of mainstream people realize that right now, there are already clean energy projects around the country that are producing real, useable, clean power. And what’s more, by doing so, they’re helping to stimulate local economies. Don’t believe me? Watch this video that we made of people in Maine talking about how First Wind’s* projects have helped their businesses.

Or this video, about the benefits that Cohocton Wind has brought to Cohocton, NY.

Clean energy is already here, and if we actively support it, it will be able to make an impact.

* Full disclosure: For those of you who don’t know, First Wind is a client. And we shot, produced, and edited both of these videos.

One Response to “Where is Renewable Energy in the Gulf Oil Spill?”

    Jean,

Absolutely great finds. Alternative energy is making some progress in Nevada too.

Most people talk about the future, bypassing the progress being done now. I wonder why that is.

    Best,
    Rich
