Lines of Beauty: the blog for women that’s all about aging with grace
By Ted Page, Captains of Industry
Getting older is viewed by a lot of people as a kind of personal rotting, something that has to be cured with plastic surgery. Lying about age is also a given. So, as a result, we have a lot of 50 year old people who say they are 40, with facial skin lifted and tucked in a way that makes it look like they’re in a wind tunnel. This self-disfigurement is tragic and unnecessary. Anyone who wants to market to this age group should check out the blog Lines of Beauty, by my good friend Louise Fernandez. Louise is 50. She also happens to be tall and lovely, a competitive swimmer (she rocks the world in her age group), and the founder of a business that makes imaginative knitted products and clothing. Louise—and her readers—represent the alternative by basically saying “screw you” to the cosmetic surgery crowd, fully embracing the fact that they’re getting older. Louise goes one step further; she understands that she earned the lines on her face. She’s proud of them. The lines are marks of wisdom and grace that enhance her beauty. I guarantee you that when Louise is 60, 70, or 95, she will still be beautiful, as will any person who loves life and is unafraid of time.

Thank you Captain! We were born to age and aging is actually an honor. So many people forget this and spend their days worrying about what can be some of the best years of their life. Older people and wrinkles are beautiful and are as normal as getting our baby teeth.

Yes, it’s true. I feel like it’s all bonus time, so I’m going to have a ball no matter what.
